Learning to Draw

Learning to Draw:

So you want to learn how to draw.....

Well we all draw in some form or the other since we were children, we have learned to pick up a pencil and slowly train our coordination and put pencil to paper.

Making lines and circles, gradually coordinating what we see with our eyes and putting this to paper.

Now this might sound simple enough, though just think about it for one moment.....

What are we really doing....

We are communicating through our eyes, in what we see in front of us, and getting our hands to apply this to paper, or any surface really.......

I myself can look at what sort of pictures I draw as a child, and how things have changed through the years.

And just how my drawings have changed!

So what is this process?

Well through training, and how well we have mastered our hand eye coordination.

We mature in our insights in what we see in every day life. Which are not as simplistic as our thought patterns are when we were children.

We see things in the more complexities of life, and we want to capture these works of nature in learning to draw on paper.

Not only that, we want to also stretch our imaginations and portray nature in different styles, this is where the imagination comes into form. Such as naive art or modern art to name a few.

And some of us do have much more vivid imaginations than others, granted..........

Now there has been some controversy in saying, that anyone can draw if taught.

Well this can be true....... as with any skill.

Though there are people who have a natural born talent, in where they find it easy to draw, and follow that road in drawing and gaining yet, more skills.

Whether this is handed down within families or just genetic remains to be told.......

“I am still learning.” ~ Michelangelo

Sure, if you have had no training and want to draw, as with anything else, it can be taught if guided in the right direction.

Can this be done through long distance learning, for example correspondence?  well yes.

With the availability of the internet, learning how to draw, can become more interactive and fun in many ways.

If you think of art lessons within a group atmosphere, this is good as well.

Though we all cannot afford the time, or the distance travel to do this in learning to draw. I have spent allot of time through study myself in correspondence and found it just as effective.

You have your own time to learn, and at your own pace, you know that only one teacher is going to see your work and guide you well.

This is why I have created this site, where you can sit back and in learning to draw not only the fundamentals of art.

I also want to make you think about your subjects in a way that is going to make you really delve down deep into yourself and find some realizations that will in turn, make your journey in art very enriching indeed.

This is going to make you more of an effective artist in how you approach your art work and chosen subjects in the future.

I am also going to give you examples of past art from different civilizations.

A study in how other artists in the past approached their art through time, culture, and events.

This will in turn, make your knowledge of the artists in the past enrich your ability to achieve your own art work in such a way, can only be found through this path alone.
