How to Draw a Cat

How to Draw a Cat:

If I just told you ok.. this is how you draw a cat. Do a few circles here, a few lines there.

Do you think you will get it. I don't think so.

There are many stages that we have to look at. So far if you have looked at the other pages in Cat Art, We have breeched the subjects of overall areas of the cat.

Now were going to get down to the nitty-gritty...........

Were going to look in detail at:

As I get these lessons done, you will be able to click on the links from how to draw a cat. And you will then taken to the lesson.

Now I'm not going onto the how's, where's and whys here...... so these lessons have nothing to do with how to paint, sculpt and so. Were Just going to do our studies of the cat and how to tackle all these different areas in how to draw a cat.

By the way, my subscribers to "Pet Art Newsletter" get more in depth advise on capturing a cat's composure.

I am going to stay with or house kitty here, not the big cat. Though you know that these rules also apply to their bigger cousins. Don't worry, I'm going to go through the lessons of our big cats also in their own section on Big Cat Art of course.

So lets just quickly go through what were going to be covering in these lessons in how to draw a cat :

Cats Different Shapes

Cats, as with their so many different beeds come in all manner shapes and sizes. What were going to do here is have a look at the different shapes out there and distinguish how we are going to tackle each shape. Stocky ones, thin ones and long ones.....

Cats Eyes

Cats eyes are fairly the same shape, though their irises are different to ours, and the different colors which come with the different breeds. We are going to look at how to interpret the cats eyes from day time, dust and night. To  make the cat come to life on your canvas.

Cats Head

The cats head is also a challenge to draw and get the proportion right when it comes from drawing the cat from behind, on an angle, to side on. Were going to tackle this one by one.

Cats Whiskers

The pride an joy of the cat; the "Cats Whiskers" if your cat is anything like mine. His whiskers just seem to go on and on. So were going to learn to draw the cats pride and joy with swift action.

Cats Paws

The cats paws and legs are intricate and elegant. Leaning how the cat uses their paws in every day life. Will help you to get the cats paws drawn right. Whether they are walking on them, or just playing, with claws extended.

Fur Markings

I would say that the cats one greatest sense of camouflage is their markings, and every cat is different.

Yet there are groups of colourings and markings you need to get familiar with in order to get colour and pattern natural. After all... we don't want our study of a cat looking poker dotted or something like that... do we

Cats Poses

Cats seem to be able to get themselves in all manner of positions. And were going to have a look at some, and how we are going to achieve this in your sketch book.

Japanese Block Print

In how to draw a cat, we will be covering the aspects of the cat. And you can always go back and use them in reference when you have doubts and need a little encouragement when drawing your own cat.

Because each and every cat you draw, will be different. And the more you know how to tackle each and every aspect of the cat. Will get you thought, to your finished piece of art. Such as the Cat...

"And a very fine Cat indeed!"
