Horse Art

On the subject of horses in horse art, their form has dominated the art world thought
time. Because the horse has been a part of mans ever forward development,
that could not have happened as fast if it were not for the horse.
Whether the artist was focusing on a particular scene, or people. The
horse was more there than not. They were our transport and a necessity in
our early lives.
Though I don't think this is the real fascination that the horse art is as
popular now as they were then, with artists and buyers alike.
Much has changed, the artist may be faced with many different objects of
the modern age to choose from. Though I have found myself, that I am drawn
to the horse in the art that I do, whether it be on canvas or in sculpture.
It might have to do that I am a horse woman too. Yet I think there is more
to it. I even feel drawn to this subject,
something a bit hard to describe, though I will give it a ago.
When I am thinking of a new piece of work, I
love to work with nature, its wild life and its animals most of all. And
usually if I do a person, I like to incorporate a person sometimes in it as
well.
It is the strength and the power of the horse that excites me,
thinking of the speed and their many muscles that can be portrayed in art.
The wild thoughts that are deeper than we think come out when picking this
subject, And because we ride this animal and work with it. Gives the
overall joining of man and beast in a union that has spanned centuries.
"A work of art goes through many
phases of development, but in each phase it is always a work of art.
(Therein lies the importance of sketches.) A work of art is finished, from
the point of view of the artist, when feeling and perception have resulted
in a spiritual synthesis". - Hans Hofmann
I have also found with my sculptures, that ok, many of my subjects
lean towards horses, though they also seem to be the most popular with the
public. I don't know if you have found this yourself, but I have.
So in some ways they are also profitable.
So we are going to find out the secrets of horse and art, how we will
portray them in our art, which are more popular that others. And what people
are seeking.
