Free Art Lessons

Free Art Lessons:

I have spent my whole life as an artist. In fact, we are a varied and unique people, some eccentric, while others conservative. I can say that I am in the conservative bracket myself.

So you probably wouldn't  pick me out of the crowd as one of those colourful arty types.

So what makes us so different, what makes some artists choose to be a traditional artist, and others a modern artist?

I have been asking myself this same question for years  too. Is there an answer...  I'm not really sure.

Why do we become artists? Do we choose to become artists?

I'm sure there are born artists who start off their lives immersed to the pull of art, like myself.

And there is the other artist who has been interested in art, and want to become students, go to art school and learn. And I'm so glad they have finally taken the step to become artists.

In the old days of the artists and poets, that gathered together in rooms, lounging around together in their dinner jackets.

Were thought of as a highly creative and cultured people in society. Now I'm talking of the 1800th and early 1900s.

When I lived in Singapore for a while. I was fortunate to meet an artist named Dr. Lai Kui-Fang Who is a famous Chinese artist within in his country.

Having studied no less than 14 years in France. He had become a master of painting in the style of  "The Old Masters". When I used to go around to his house, he might be painting a commissioned scene for the government at the time.

I remember, there stood a big half finished painting that would be sitting there under the veranda on a typical humid Singapore's day.

I used to look on in amazement at the detail he used to capture within his paintings. Along with his paintings, he also used to sculpt.

In a way he was also my mentor, and I used to take notice when he used to look at my sculpture work, and heeded the advise he would give me. As I knew, to gain such knowledge from this man would make me a better artist.

His knowledge from studying in one of the major hubs of the European countries of art was immense. And I looked up to him for guidance.

As he has passed on his knowledge to me, I also want to pass on my knowledge to you with these free art lessons, and with the coming of the internet, has given me just that opportunity.

There could be so many subjects that we could do in art. Yet  time needs to be spent on each and every subject.

If I tried to cover so many aspects of art, we would be here till the "cows-come-home". So that's why we are just concentration on a few: Our dogs, Cats, horses, and Big Cats.....

"By the way, if you want to learn more about my journey, and how other artists have had an impact on my art work and free art lessons.. You will find this in my free newsletter "pet art newsletter" .

Art will enrich your lives and you will look upon things in a different way.

"Spirit Winds" Artist ~ Andrea Balch

"Art happens - no hovel is safe from it, no prince can depend on it, the vastest intelligence cannot bring it about" - James Abbott MC Nrill Whistler

I will tell you one thing though.... the road in art might be a challenge, frustrating at times and glorious in its intent.

Though you will discover more about yourself, because art will take you places that you never would have imagined....

Welcome aboard and join in on my free art lessons!
