Finding the Best Drawings of Horses
Finding the Best Drawings of Horses: So what is this saying here...... or should I say, what lesson am I trying to teach you...... OK, I want to show you how you can come up with some of the your best pieces of art work in a very different way than just working of a taken photo. I am going to show you how to recognize a potential new piece of art that you can do for your next project. Sometimes it is hidden away in a photo you already have?... these best drawings of horses, just waiting to be discovered. Here is one of many wonderful photos that Edwardo from Argentina has taken. What we see here is a battle of not only physical strength, but wits against horse and man. This photo alone would make a wonderful piece of art work, its full of action and interest, but what if you want something a bit different again. I shall give you an idea here. When I first looked at this photo, I thought WOW! then I started to look at the overall photo a little closer, and saw a photo within this photo. Look at the horses head, try to Photo Courtesy: Eduardo Amorim
Visualize in your own mind the horses and neck features. Now you can do a piece of art work that is in a term "close up", as you have seen close-ups in photographs as well. This also applies to art work, not only in paintings and drawings, but sculpture as well. Have a look at the angle of the horses head, the muscle strain in his neck, the way the horses halter is positioned. By focusing in on this one scene alone, you not only have found another intense subject for your art work, you have focused in on a moment in time brought closer, as with the photo below.
The finding out these gems within a photo like this is not as easy as you might think. It takes special observatories to recognize what works in art and what doesn't. You cant just say, OK I'm going to just section out a piece from a subject or scene. If you approached it like this, more often than not you are going to end up with a scene that doesn't work. It would most probably be boring and you would probably be best with drawing or painting the whole photograph instead, at least this is safe. It does not matter if its drawings of horses, or drawings of dogs. Drawings of Horses in Grid Format
You need intrigue, and interest the onlooker. This is where your subject is telling a story. If a piece of art work does not tell a story, than it will end up being boring and not very popular. Ok, now that we have chosen this sole area as our new work of art, what then...... In drawings of horses, the best and safest way to get your new subject onto your canvas is the "grid method". Where you get a piece of tracing paper and draw a grid on it, thus placing the grid over your photo, you then draw a grid lightly on your canvas.
Then once you have done this, make sure that you have taped down the piece of grid paper over your photo so that it does not move. The last thing you need is the grid paper to move once you have started to draw in your horse on the grid on your canvas. Getting the grid back to the exact position it was in the first place can out-set when drawing on your canvas.
Here is an example I have of the horse on the canvas, you don't have to draw in all of the shadows, unless you feel more comfortable doing it this way. It depends just how detailed you want your finished drawing to be. As we are mainly focusing on a drawing here, you can draw or sketch in your own unique way. You may prefer to have less shadowing, that's completely up to you. Once done you can rub away the lines on your canvas, do remember though... don't make the grid lines too heavy or dark, as you don't want to have large unwelcome smudge lines on your background. Art is man's nature; nature is God's art. ~P. J. Bailey I have only made these grid lines on this drawing here dark and thick so that you can see them clearly. In finding drawings of horses as your next art piece, you can look at your photos and see if you can see another picture amongst it that will make a new potential piece of art work.
