Dog Art
Dog Art: Dogs and art have a sort of homely way about them don't they. When I see a piece of art work with a dog in it, it warms me to see our constant companions beside us in a form of art. Their mere presence in our lives has fulfilled us with a sort of friendship that only a dog can give. Our constant shadow when we move about, they have installed a sense of friendship that has found its way onto canvas and sculpture alike So what is it that brings you to the subject of the dog art. Do you also feel that warmth that radiates from their eyes. The dog has a face that shows great expression, unlike some other animals, the dog has many muscles in their face that enable them to show vast differences of emotions. Like ourselves, you can see what they are thinking in their faces. "Drawing and color are not separate at all; in so far as you paint, you draw. The more color harmonizes, the more exact the drawing becomes. When the color achieves richness, the form attains its fullness also." ~ So the dog gives us a great flexibility in using their different moods to create art that shines out to the onlooker. I am inclined to think that the dog is probably better portrayed on canvas than in sculpture. Seems as though we can work with many colors, seems to bring the dog's to the fullest. "By the way, my subscribers to "Pet Art Newsletter" get exclusive tips on how to achieve the union of the dog in art, that people relate to in real life. Have you ever see the paintings, say of the 18th century, where you see on canvas, an old English pub scene with a dog sleeping on a chair. I love these sorts of paintings, and am drawn to them, as I am sure you are. Even still today, when I am in England I can still go in to one of those beautiful Old English Pubs and see a dog sleeping on a chair, near a fire place, or just sleeping on the floor near their masters feet. It is wonderful to see the unity of both dog and man in such a public, though homely place. The dog will bring out the closeness and warmth in you in which you will want to transfer into your art, and learning to achieve the most basic of the dogs expressions will challenge your art work in the nicest of ways.
