Cartoon Animals Cartoon Animals: Now... I did say that we would breach this subject once we have learned the basics lessons of animal art didn't I? that we would go into other areas of the art world. Such as caricature and cartooning. Well...... there is no time than like the present. I have also seen the funny side of our animal-subjects set in newspapers, and magazines in their hilarious and imaginative portrayals in art. Which only makes working with our animal subjects that much more fun. Isn't that soooooo.....
I guess we can't always stay on the serious side can we... and I have enjoyed drawing our fury friends in satire as much as the next artist. And you don't have to be a cartoonist to accentuate our fury friends characteristics in art, such as the cartoon cat. Artists do it all the time, we paint pictures and do sculptures of many of our wonderful animals and pets in their comical forms. In fact, I have grown very close to seeing such whimsical betrayals of our cats, dogs, horses and of course big cats in cartoon like characters. ""Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad."" ~ Salvador Dali In fact, even myself as a child did some sort of character drawing and sculpture work when I was starting first out. Most of those old unfired clay models have disappeared over the years now. And some even when moving house, how does that happen? loosing things when you move. Is there a "moving-elf" that seems to steal some of your belongings every time you move house! "By the way, my subscribers to my free monthly "Pet Art Newsletter" get more tips and tricks on what sort and style of cartoon animal to do. Anyway, I do still have one such of my sculpture survivors with me, of a Mexican I once did.... not fired, but very hardened clay by now..... I named him Hozay Gonazles! yes that's right! maybe I was too many western movies when I was a child. Still hooked on them now. Lets have a look at the some examples of cartoon cats that I have drawn and their different cat features.
We also have the big cats such as
tiger cartoons
and the learning
to draw cartoons of lions. And of course the
cartoon horse,
I have drawn you a few examples here and how ideas on how to
change a general horse into a cartoon with character.
